Robert Farrar Capon, an Anglican priest, spends an hour looking at a single onion and it turns into one of the best pieces of theology written in English. He is doing exactly what this season is for, in a kitchen, with sixty cents of vegetable. If you only read one book from the canon, this is a defensible choice.
